This research aims to analyze the grammatical items, types, and functions of code-mixing and code-switching that appeared in one of rachel’s videos titled “puaaasss? Begini kondisi rumah tangga gue”. This research uses the qualitative research method by using hoffman's (1990) theory for analyzing the types of code-mixing, poplack's (1980) theory for analyzing the types of code-switching, and gumperz's (1982) theory for analyzing the functions of code-mixing and code-switching. The finding shows that 21 utterances consist of 13 code-mixing and 8 code-switching. From 13 utterances, 10 utterances belong to the intra-sentential of code-mixing, 2 utterances belong to intra-lexical code-mixing, and 1 utterance belongs to involving a change of pronunciation. Furthermore, from 8 utterances, 3 utterances belong to emblematic or tag switching, 3 utterances belong to inter-sentential code-switching, and 2 utterances belong to intra-sentential code-switching. For the grammatical items in codemixing, noun is the class of word that is frequently used and in code-switching, an exclamatory sentence is a sentence frequently used. Last, the function that most found in this video is specific terminology for code-mixing and message qualification for codeswitching. In conclusion, rachel did code-mix because some words are specific terminology of a particular subject and there is no equivalent in indonesian. She also did code-switch because in this video she was with her husband who is fluent in english, meanwhile, her viewers are fluent in indonesian. Thus, she should introduce the topic she will talk about and then explain it in english or vice versa.
