This research discusses the modulation procedure in English-Indonesian idiom translation of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness movie's subtitle. This research aims to classify the translated idioms according to each types of modulation procedure. Thereafter, this research explores and elaborates at once to know how it is utilized by the translator in the movie’s subtitle using Vinay and Darbelnet’s theory (Vinay and Darbelnet, 1995). This research employs a qualitative method in analyzing the data in order to more describe about the data findings or information in detail related to the discussion. This research finds twenty-six data which identified as idiom in the movie’s subtitle. Of the twenty-six data that found, there are twelve data classified as abstract for concrete, twelve data classified as one part for another, one data classified as negation of the opposite, and one data classified as type part for whole. However, of the ten types of modulation procedure, there are only four types of modulation found in this research. Furthermore, modulation procedure maintains and conveys the meaning or message of idiom itself to the target language which idiom is a term that cannot be translated literally. As the conclusion, modulation procedure is the most effective way in translating idiom terms from one language into another language in order to produce an appropriate meaning.
