Racial Ideology In The Green Book Movie

No image available for this title
This study aims to analyze the issue of racism that occurs to black African
Americans. This study analyzes the depiction of racism and its ideology in the film Green
Book. The method used in this study is descriptive-qualitative by collecting important data
related to the research for the source analysis. The theories used in this research are Critical
Race Theory (CRT) by Richard Delgado and Jean Stefancic and Dimensions of Racism by
Lillian Green to determine how racism is represented. The writer found in this film several
dimensions of racism, including internalized racism, interpersonal racism, and systemic
racism. However, interpersonal racism is more dominant than other dimensions. As a result,
the researchers concluded that the racism depicted in this film is an ideological category of
everyday racism because the racism encountered by Don Shirley is a common occurrence
in everyday life that can occur anywhere.
